12/28/2023 0 Comments Vibe shearwater 125 kayak for saleLike u/NerdyTurtle20 mentioned, the Hobie 180 drive does work with the Vibe pod system and I have used it before borrowing from a buddy while mine was all locked up. Vibe sent me a replacement pod that had since been redesigned as well as replacement flippers because I had damaged one while trying to get them separated, also in less than 5 days.Īll of that being said, I can't recommend the kayak enough and their customer service has been nothing short of amazing. After some back and forth with Vibe on ideas, I cut the pod in half to remove the pedal system. I luckily I had just started, so paddling back with the pod out wasn't too much of a problem, if I was on a lake I probably would have kept fishing but on a river with moving water it didn't seem safe with the huge hole out of the center of yak. Vibe had a replacement to me in less than 5 days.Ģ) The pedals partially slipped through the pod and I could not remove them, day on the water ruined. Day on the water not ruined, but I did have to countersteer with the rudder a bit. I have had two issues with the x-drive system, both having to do with the actual pod the pedals slide into.ġ) The latch that holds the pedals in place broke on the right side, causing the pedals to lean left. Hope this helps.I've had the SW125 for a couple seasons now, and I love it! Few things that come to mind. Not great but it tracks well enough, just takes a bit to get moving. I thought that maybe a downfall would be the seat movement vs paddling but no problem at all.Īnd now for the paddling, in short, it does better than I thought. So much space, so usable, I just don't want anything else. Seems to have room for the bigger folks as well. The most complete fishing kayak ever, the Shearwater 125s unrivaled speed and. Fishing from the side? Hell, just let a foot dangle off, no worries. 00 Read more Bixpy Pedal Drive Adapter Hobie Mirage, Vibe X-Drive. Combined with the boats stability, just anchor/ stake.whatever and fish whatever direction you like. The hardest part about imagining any other kayak for me is losing that swivel seat. The 360 seat, man o man, that damn seat. Just toss it in the boat.there's room without trying. If you are keeping it simple when it comes to gear, you can leave your ingenuity packed away in the garage. The open deck design is great, in short, you can be lazy about organization. Although I did not plug the scuppers for this brief test, I certainly would if the outing consisted of 2-up travel. It is a great kayak, very stable and easy to paddle. Purchased October 2020 used a handful of times, light usage wear. I weigh about 215, had a buddy hop in that weighs about 165 and it was fine. 1,000 Quantity: 1 Condition: Used Listing Type: Fixed Price Make: Vibe Item's Postal Code: 346 Description: Vibe Shearwater 125 Kayak. I can't guarantee it but I feel you will fall out way before the boat considers going smooth side up. Stand and sit with ease.or paddle while standing if you feel like it. Thus, you don't get spooked while moving about as the boat shifts from primary to secondary. The stability seems superior to the Top Water 120 I had previously. The plastic seems to be a bit thinner than the old towns in similar spots.more flex in comparison. The keel is sharp and as such I would worry a little about it's durability if dropped, not a big deal since keel guards are available. Have to be a little more careful when dragging it around. One negative is not having a sacrificial drag plate at the rear. I'll list some cons before moving forward. So far I feel that the Unlimited edges them out. I've been through a Jonny Bass 100, Old Town Topwater 120 (non pdl) and currently still have an Old Town Big Water 132 pdl.
